3 Top Copy Tips

Here is Coconut Creatives 3 Top Tips for producing killer copy…

1.    Focus on the Function!

Always start writing your copy after carefully considering what its job is. If it is for your website then ensure you have included your key words. If it for a magazine ensure you understand who reads the magazine and what style it needs to be written in.

2.    What’s the publisher/outlet looking for?

With copy that is going to be used as a press release, you will want to ensure that you know what the publisher or feature writer is looking for. Coconut Creatives works closely with Linda Whitney who writes the Daily Mail franchise column. We understand what her copy requirements are and therefore supply her with the information she wants about a client in the right format at the right length with suitable quotes she can use.

3.    Where can you use & re-use the copy?

Any Franchisor or business owner that has been on a Franchisor Marketing Workshop, had Coconut Mentoring or worked with Coconut Creatives on a 1 to 1 basis will be very familiar with Sarah Cook’s phrase:

“Create once and use many times.”

This is the absolute best tip ever when it comes to writing copy that can be utilised in different places. You will of course need to change key aspects of the copy but the overall idea is to maximise your resources (whether that is time or money or both) by creating killer copy that you can reuse in different places. The Perfect Elevator Pitch is a fantastic example of this.
